So I opened an etsy shop. Not because I plan on quitting my day job, or because I have some amazing talent, or even because I've always had a dream of selling my wares. Although I
did enjoy just using that phrase in a sentence.
I did it so that people would stop bugging me. Golly that sounds rude.
Awhile back, I toyed around with cutting up a few soda cans and making them into a flower. Yes, watching a movie without working on something is a foreign concept. It turned out kinda cool so I stuck it on my work hat. Not a day has gone by in the past two years without at least 3 customers asking if I sell them.
"Nope," I'd reply, followed by the {internal} follow-up of "
why would I?".
Because to sell something would mean that it's WORTH BUYING, and this was just fun. Fun for birthday gifts. Fun to stick on a purse. Just FUN.
Then the girls at Roger's restaurant caught a glimpse of them and wanted some. And then
their customers wanted some. Luckily my husband didn't mind becoming my dealer. Taking orders. Handing out my email. Bringing home money {what?!}. The whole "what do you have made up right now?" got old quickly, and I realized that a shop would actually save time. List what I've got, so even if people don't actually
buy them on Etsy, they can order flowers that I've already got finished and ready to go. That's pretty cool, right? Even if I still think the whole thing is silly.
In celebration of school starting and the kids going to bed at
relatively decent bedtimes again, one of these sassy metal petals is going to be sent to one of YOU. Just because you're awesome.
Check out
what's available and then come back here to leave a comment with your favorite. From there random.org will pick a number and thus a winner. This is so high tech. Leave your email address if it isn't linked to your profile and oh yeah - we'll have to end it at some point, right? Let's say 9pm Sunday night.
Unless I forget. Then it'll be Monday morning.
Whatevs.
Happy Weekend.

ReplyDeleteThese flowers are really cool! I can totally understand your how you feel about selling; my family always tells me I should sell the things I make and in my head I'm saying, "Really, sell? Who would buy these, especially if anyone can make them." But you are now my new inspiration (hehe) I think I'm going to give selling a try - wish me luck. BTW I like the Star ones the best.
