Right before my eyes

We've been in this house for five years.
Not that long, I suppose, and yet somehow it's a lifetime.

It was all fun and games until I was reminded that next year, Sierra will be in college.
This is the last official first day of school photo with all of my babies and I am so proud and hate it all at once.

4, 6, 8, 10, and 12th grade

If you're looking for me, I'll be spending the next two days with my husband in a quiet house before we both have to go back to work. Celebrating. Mourning.

Happy Back to School.

  1. Ouch, right in the heart. I just sent my kids off this morning so I'm a bit sad and philosophical too. "The days are long but the years are short." Your kids are so beautiful and BIG! I love how happy your oldest two look this year. :)

  2. ive been sobbing oldest is a senior...can't be true..i swear i can remember my senior year like it was yesterday sick i tell you sick!

  3. I'm excited to have Sierra in my class! Wahoo for teachin' for a third year! I love her new look! She looks great!

  4. It's incredible how five years doesn't seem like that long until you look at pictures like that. I feel oldest daughter is a senior this year too and I swear it was just yesterday that she was starting kindergarten. Very bittersweet!!

  5. Beautiful family! Hold them close and enjoy the time, it goes far too quickly! I've spent the last 2 days cleaning out my closet in preparation for new carpet. The closet where all the first day of school pics were kept, where the birthday cards from years past, writing papers, journals, construction paper art projects, school supplies, old tapes of holiday past a virtual time capsule if you will. Twenty four years of memories flood me, bring me to tears. I look and wonder how did we get here. Blessings to your family!

  6. The kids look great! Sierra's a senior? I can't believe it.

  7. I know! I sent mine off to school last week and my baby is a freshman this year. In a blink of an eye, she'll be a senior, too. How did this happen because I swear I just gave birth to her yesterday! My other baby is in sixth grade and won't even let me kiss him goodbye behind the door this year. At least last year he let me do that, as long as no one could see his mother kissing him. Now he prefers to act like he doesn't have parents, at least in front of his friends. Raising children is a beautiful sweet agony. You have gorgeous children, by the way!

  8. What great pictures and wonderful memories you have! They do grow up way too fast. My youngest, my son, just turned 21! I can hardly believe it. I totally understand what you are feeling.
