Pimp Yo' Presents Tip #7: think outside the box

You've got 'em, why not play with them?
Empty boxes, that is.

Dr Pepper box into gift topper

If you pretend you're making a newspaper poof but use cardboard instead, it'll look like this.
A leftover strip gets wrapped around the middle instead of ribbon, and defines her waist.
This ain't no diet soda.

Dr pepper gift topper

Okay, so maybe you aren't a soda drinker, but are you cuckoo for cocoa puffs?
Loopy paper bows look merry and bright using a cereal box.
Heaven knows our recycle bin has a least five empty containers tossed in every week, which is certainly enough for Christmas AND a year's worth of birthdays.

Doing a (frozen) pizza night? Then you've got the supplies for the cheesiest gift topper ever.

Photobucket

No - literally. The cheesiest. Same technique as the paper poinsettia, minus the creasing.

If you don't want to SEE the graphics and print {which I think is part of the fun}, you can take the modest is hottest route and cover it all up.
Print out a letter to use as a template, cut it out of your box...

Photobucket

and wrap it with some yarn or twine, hot gluing down the ends.

Happy Gifting.

Love them! I'm sure I can find some boxes around to make these. I'm thinking a silver diet coke box would be pretty. I think my great nieces and nephews would get a kick out of something like this too.
I took pics of the gifts I gave at our party yesterday and will be posting them on my blog, so pop over later this week and check them out.

These are really cool! The top one actually looks like SF 49ers wrapping - my in-laws would LOVE this ;)

I love those! They look great and won't flatten like bows when another gift is stacked on top. Wonderful!

This may be a conversation of mine in the future: "Honey, we're getting this frozen pizza for dinner." ('But the kids don't like sausage...') "I know, but the box is amazing!"

Can you re-visit using Sunday comics and children's drawings for wrapping paper with an updated look? I love using the comics. Bet you can make it exciting.

Thanks~

Char-

I did a post last year that had some more newspaper/comic ideas. Here's the link:

Hope that helps!
