Who Else Got Nothing "Done" This Summer?

School doesn't start until a week from Monday, but I know when to admit defeat.

I thought by keeping my handy dandy project list small with attainable goals it would
guarantee success, but alas...I haven't even found time to fill a picture frame.

Okay, so it's really that I can't find anything I LOVE to go in the frame that's the problem.
Or at least anything I love that won't require me to repaint the whole bathroom, which can't happen because hello? A paint job? Take a number and get.in.line.

(at least I've kept up on the laundry, which deserves it's own Olympic medal)

When I saw this idea on pinterest it was instant infactuation.
A pizza box and paint? I had both in my garage that very moment.

Within an hour my bedroom wall was attacked and.....I hated it.
That was ONE YEAR AGO.
For 12 months it has looked like this: five circles staring at me. Laughing. Pointing fingers.
For sure I'd have time during vacation to finally fix it.

Or not.

What projects were you supposed to get done this summer?

  2. I didn't have much of a to do list for the summer, but I had a few simple things and one big one. The big one, finishing up my craft room redo is almost done! YIPEE!!! the others are so so. I wanted to do more 'entertaining' well having people over to cook out or for a fire. Too hot for fires and dry too, no fires allowed in our town. And I did do a little more having people over, but not near as much as I wanted to and not some of the people I wanted to see the most.
Oh well, summer doesn't have to be the only time to have people over, right? And my kids don't go back to school either, the youngest graduated 2 yrs ago.
I'll keep working on that craft room and visiting.

  3. I actually managed to complete a few projects. What I didn't even come close to accomplishing is having a summer ;) About those circles ... inspiration pic had me wanting circles too ... read the instructions ... what were you even thinking to start this {just kidding} but it does seem like a big effort and it also involves math. That said, don't be mad, I like your 5 lonely circles, I think you just need a few more up there before it inspires you to finish. Happy Friday! Robin

  4. I love the circles on the wall. If you finish just the top row that borders the ceiling, the extra few will make it look very artistic. That would cut down the work quite a bit don't you think? Also, I love the frame in the first pic. You should find a nice black and white photo to go in there...

  5. I've had laminate flooring in my living room and hall about 80% laid since...April? I did get my kitchen cabinets painted but it took about four times as long as it should have and there's still places I need to touch up or paint a third coat. I need to finish both in the next month, though, so I guess it's good that school's back in.

  6. We had an empty 24" x 30" picture frame up in our dining nook for years. We originally bought it to blow up a picture my husband took of a flower, but blown up it looked like a cheap mall poster. It turned into quite the conversation piece, with only the bravest guests daring to ask if it was actually empty or if it was some sort of abstract art. I finally found something for it, but I kind of miss the way it was.

  7. So many! I finally settled on doing a massive declutter. We've off-loaded 7 TRUCKLOADS of stuff with at least another 4-5. 14 years in the same place has caused us to collect a lot of stuff!

Today I finally painted the pantry which has needed to be done for 2 years. Still have to put everything back and that's left my kitchen a trainwreck.

On the plus side- I did design and manage the install of a landscape for our local Parade of Homes. I also created 3 fun DIY projects for the house including a hanging daybed swing. Now if only MY OWN pergola sported such a desirable amenity! Why do I save the 'best stuff' for other people?

  8. No, I really didn't get anything "done", at least not around the house. We did have a ton of fun this summer, so maybe we did get something accomplished ;-)

  14. We always have lots of summer company, so most of what I had on my to-do list didn't get done, but we had lots of good times. So I do need to get cracking on repainting the dining room floor and a rocker, refinishing a small table, and losing 20 pounds!!

  15. I worked on a couple of things but completed nothing. I thought with having Fridays off during the summer I could sew away. Didn't happen instead I spent every Friday going to doctor visits or having annual lab work done. Bummer.
    You're not alone
