Coping Mechanisms

It's been a week since sadness hit our house.
Even though we know she isn't in pain anymore, we still weren't ready to say goodbye to our sweet Mesa.

How do I deal with overwhelming grief?

Goodwill.

Looking for the perfect canvas for our family tribute to the bestest dog ever.

Sierra let me use her paints,

and the rest was up to this guy.

{Yes, that's Brendan in the background with his hand down his pants. We all deal with loss in different ways.}

We hung it where we'll miss her the most:
right by the garage door, where she would greet us every time we came home.

  7. I'm sorry too. A dog holds an important place in a family. I love the tribute to your beloved pet and I admire the way you are working through it together. I think Mesa knew he had a good family and that has to be some comfort for you.

  8. Art therapy was a great idea for comforting your family in this time of loss and giving them a positive concrete experience of saying good-bye; too often people don't know how to memorialize pet members of a family or even think its necessary to help those who remain. Its a wonderful thing that Mesa had such a loving family and I know your heart aches with Mesa's absence ... I'm so sorry for your family's loss.
