Owl Be Home For Christmas

I don't like trends. I detest them. Abhor them. Consider them a sign of the weak and easily influenced. But when I saw this guy

in the fall clearance section, marked down from this

to this,

I said YES PLEASE. It was less about me falling in love and more about not being able to pass up a smashing deal. Ninety percent off is almost 100% which would be FREE. So practically free, is what he was. Consider me an official owl fan.

(even though most of them freak me out)

(this one included, but for PRACTICALLY FREE, I'll get over it)

Since the kiddos shower curtain has owls and other woodland creatures in it, I knew the hall bathroom was gonna be his perch. Lair. Hole in the tree. Whatever an owl home is called. Plus, I wouldn't have to look at him everyday. He couldn't stay all stained glassy and spooky eyed though, so he got a coat of spray paint.

Much better. And even better still with a Santa hat, because what isn't?

Owl have a blue Christmas without you....

He seems to be fitting in quite well, and doesn't mind the cotton ball snow or tacky Q-Tip snowflakes (asterisks?) one bit.

In other news, my mama is flying in tonight and I can hardly wait. She's been warned that I've got big plans for getting our craft on, and I'm even taking some time off of work so I can do important things like take naps while she's busy taking the kids to movies I refuse to sit through (I'm looking at you, Happy Feet 2). What I won't be doing? Cleaning.

Oh yeah - and blogging until the new year. So from our family to yours: Have a Very Happy Holiday.

(Yes, that's a rhino in the "manger." Just because it wasn't mentioned in the Old Testament doesn't mean it didn't happen.)

P.S Here's a little something to jingle your bells....Merry Christmas.

Girl, you made me laugh & cry. I am crying because this guy is so happy and I want my son to be that happy! I put it up on my blog. I think I did read something about a rhino being at the birth. The owl is fantastic, and you styled it perfectly. I am happy for you about your mom coming. I am always happy when my mom comes too. Happy New Year...I am so happy to be one of your "follower/friend". Cheers!

We have a hippo in our Nativity because at our house it's not Christmas until we've listen to and sung "I wanna hippopotamus for Christmas" about a hundred times. Enjoy your time off with your Mom. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas to you too! And I LOVE the video.. I love the freedom that young man has to be FREE to be himself. It was a very infectious video. IS this your son? I have not been reading your blog long enough to know you that well yet.. but I am catching up!

Thankyouthankyouthankyou (yep, all one word) for that video!! I was laughing so hard I was crying! I love the high five he didn't get and decided to 'air' high five the guy anyway...so funny! What a great kid I bet that he is! I often have the urge to do such a thing myself, sans iPod, when a great song comes on in a store, but alas, I spare the other consumers. Maybe next time I won't be so nice.... ;)
Cute bathroom, by the way, and I absolutely love your q-tip snowflake asterisks.

That owl is a HOOT! Sorry. Had to...he is stunning in blue-my fave color of all time, fads be damned.

I've also done that dance before-only mine is a SHUFFLE :) Both the dance and the device.

I'm happy to have found your bloggie this year, kiddo-i'ts a riot.

Enjoy your Mom and all the mom-ness she brings :) Happy Christmas to you and your bunch- SJS

Yes indeed'y, you and I share an obsession with sticking santa hats on anything .... "olive it" (I love it). Love that you painted the owl a color and not white because white ceramics are found in the store so you definitely made him yours! So glad I recently found your blog and I'm eagerly awaiting for your blog to reopen in 2012! Have a great Christmas and a safe New Year.

35 years worth of Sunday School teachers are rolling their eyes and mumbling something about me talking too much in class when I should have been paying attention. NEW Testament.

Yep, the best part was definitely the sneak peek at the bathroom art. A happy new year to the Wisor household!

I just found your blog today through Pinterest. I LOVE it - especially the office makeover. I am getting ideas to turn my moved-out/grown daughter's room into my guest room/craft room/office. My room is not nearly as big as yours, but I think I can use a lot of the ideas that you used. Thanks for the laughs so far (I have read several posts) & all the great ideas & even though it's after Christmas - I so appreciated the video - what wild abandon! Wish I could be that free! :)
