Paper & Staples {A V-Day Heart Garland}

It's Valentines Season, and somewhere between Target and Nick Jr and teachers at school, the children have been brainwashed to believe that in order to celebrate properly we need "decorations."

No offense to all y'all out there who go hogwild for every holiday, but that's not my style. So just like Thanksgiving, we're using paper, which means two things:

1. free (yay)

2. disposable (double yay)

Pull out some paper and cut strips about an inch wide. We used random construction paper, but if you're not as lazy and want to get all fancy pants like, you could certainly use patterned scrapbook stuff. (Polka dots, anyone?) Fold in half, then loop around and staple. Connect them together just like a paper chain, and - 2 minutes from the first staple - you're finished. And officially festive.

okay if i am not too lazy to cut the paper into strips i think we might do this one. but that would require me actually getting the paper cutter down from the top shelf or trying to find a pair of scissors around this joint! super cute idea!

To Empty Nest Full of Life: Do you have a grammer school near by? The little one's love doing these easy crafts (with a little assistance of they really little) and the school would be extremely grateful. More people should volunteer at schools if they have the time. Many are suffering from a shortage of help and willing "teachers". I get a lot of joy out of teaching young children arts and crafts, and the children really just shine when they see the finished product. The smiles extend forever on their faces and in your heart!
