Time to bust out the ol' staging trick that I used every time we had a house for sale and the front had to look picture perfect at all times.
The ingredients: one geranium bush (now 75% off since they're 'summer flowers') and some wire cutters.
Here's where it gets real complicated.
Cut.
Then poke.
Since the leaves are real and cover up most of the stem, only the blooms show. Perfectly spaced. Perfectly colored. And once the others decide to open, I can just pull them out and save 'em for later.
Who cares if they're real, as long as they look good?
(That's what he said.)
You are simply BRILLIANT!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! This is so smart. I am going to go do this right now to my pathetic pot on my porch. This is one of the best things I have seen in blogland in a long time! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea and it looks like to live in Texas too! Those geraniums aren't going to get scorched by out Texas heat. You're the first Texas blogger I have found, nice to meet you!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful but . . . you have to pull the dead head off the plant and you have to fertilizer them because they are in a planter.
ReplyDeleteAaaaa, that's what he said! Dying over here!
ReplyDeleteDude, great idea!
ReplyDeleteoh no you did-unt. j/k, what a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteAs the child of a landscaper and a nursery owner/grower, I cannot condone this kind of cheating. :)
ReplyDeleteThey probably need a lot more sun; geraniums are full sun plants. I have one on my deck that doesn't get enough sun because of the giant tree overhead and it looks pretty much the same as those. But I'd have to put it about fifty feet into the backyard for it to get the sun it needs, and I'm too lazy to do that, so it stays on the deck.
Don't forget to pinch back the dead blooms.
ReplyDeleteNo shame in faking if nobody notices! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've never thought of that - I think having all the real leaves is what makes it work!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I laughed out loud at this post. That's what he said.....oh my. To funny.
ReplyDeleteYou are still cracking me up!
ReplyDeleteNothing stands a chance in my SC heat, either..especially with our 107* days lately, so I just gave up! Smart, sister, SMART!
WOOHOO! Love this. *steals your idea and runs to Joanne's!*
ReplyDeletePerfect Planters! Now I know the secret.
ReplyDeletebecky you never cease to amaze me.
ReplyDeleteNow this is my kind of sprucing up!
ReplyDeleteLisa
Fake can be a good thing right?

ReplyDeleteoooh... that looks good. Putting it in with real leaves is a good trick. I'll certainly give this a try. :)
ReplyDeleteI "borrowed" the picture of your planter. I linked it back to you and gave you all the credit, of course. Hope you don't mind. If you do, just let me know and I'll remove it.
