The Results. A Billion Years Later.

Leftover molding to cover up this lame space,
three coats of red paint,some door de-funkification,and I was finally ready to tackle this.I wanted those outlets gone without actually being....gone. {FYI: a half empty bucket of kitty litter doesn't work as well as clamps, which were no where to be found, or somebody actually holding the piece of wood, which wasn't happening either.}

{who likes staying on the line anyway?}

I cut out some wood and made something resembling a shelf, except not as pretty,

used a leftover from this demolition that I had no business beginning,painted it red to match the rest, and nailed it to the back. It's basically a primitive box that doesn't go all the way to the back of the cabinet, which means there's room behind it for cords. AND if we ever need to get back there, the box just slides out. Of course, like everything else, it looks better once it's been trimmed out.I'll go ahead and say it before anybody else does: why ask for people's opinions when you're not going to listen to them anyways? I really was going to keep the doors, but the moment I took them off to paint, I fell in love. I thought maybe after living with it for a few days I'd change my mind, but now I'm more smitten than ever.

Of course, a girl reserves the right to change her mind, and should I ever get tired of it, I still know where the screws are...

it looks great. as always. you are a master with that saw - i envy your bravery to handle power tools... i also love ALL of your white painted woodwork. what's the name of your fav white paint again? we had white cabinets in our last house, but they got dirty so fast. do you use semi-gloss to be able to wipe them down quick and easy? and how do you keep them clean? i have one piece of furniture that i'd love to do white, but i'm worried about the fingerprints that will most likely show up after the kids get their hands on it. your thoughts?

I still havent done a lick with that dang table, I think if I just buy the paint, it will give more motivation to finish it! I will do it before Doug gets back from deployment, mark my words.. oh and to answer your question from my blog.... bottom, but sometimes top ;)

Can I just say...after recently spending some time on some "other" decorating/DIY blogs. I have determined that yours is one of the absolute best. It is hilarious, you have true creativity and ingenuity, and your eye for color and composition are flawless. Yes. That is a big fat blatant compliment and you can get all anxious and threaten to turn off your comments ;), or you can just take it and say, yes thank you I know. If only in your head.

Love it... I knew it would be GREAT.... But one of these days.... well, perhaps NOT.... Looking at it done, it is VERY pleasing to the EYE (especially when compared to the ORIGINAL Redneck version). When looking at it (without the comparison, I DON'T even think "Gun Case" which I think was the Ultimate Goal. Congratulations! Love, MOM
