1. Aside from our first house, it's the longest we've ever stayed put.
2. I've managed to live with a too dark paint color without losing my mind. Mostly.
This week I took the plunge after - wait for it - trying out a sample and living with it for awhile.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the first color. It's luscious and dreamy and warm and....too deep for our house that gets very little light, thanks to a covered porch in the front and tall trees in the back. Great thing come summer time, not so great for being surrounded by a beautiful rich color.
So it was time for a change. The new color is a breath of fresh air. Or should I say campfire air? It's called "Toasted Marshmallow" from Martha Stewart. Lighter than I normally prefer, but perfect for a lamps-must-always-be-on room.
We color matched it at Walmart, which meant for the same price of 2 gallons of paint at Home Depot, we got a five gallon bucket. Plenty of leftovers to finish up spots like this...
and the upstairs kids hallway that's still a flat white,
Ever notice that I've never showed that one? It's because there's nothing to see. It's the same today as when we moved in.
Except for the lingering smell of dirty socks. We have managed to add that.
