Going Topless

takes a lot of guts,

a screwdriver,

and a kitty.*

* cat optional 5 minutes later and we have full frontal nudity. Of course, once the doors were off it just looked like cabinets that....well, had their doors off. Not to mention the insides were just primer from the previous owners. They needed a coat of paint, but there was no reason it had to be cream paint. Where's the fun in that?

I did the ol' construction paper taped to the back trick just to be make sure I liked it and then jumped in. Brush first.

The result? A perfect blend of form and function.

Or controlled chaos, just like the rest of my life.

And if I change my mind in 6 months, it's just 24 screws.

  4. LOVE IT! It's so great! We have all white cabinets everywhere that don't have fancy doors so I'm always thinking of something to do to them. But we have about 65 thousand cabinets. : / But yours look awesome!

  5. I love it as well! I wanted to leave mine off when I was in the process of painting them. Talk about convenient! Problem is I have ugly dishes and over stuffed cabinets cause my kitchen is too small! Next house, next house!

  8. You're going to have a lot of disappointed googlers coming to your blog. High interest keywords you have here.

So I thought you were one of those people who was only organized and lovely on the outside. Imagine my dismay to find out you are on the inside too. I don't think you understand what the term organized chaos means. Chaos must be present in some form.

  12. Not quite as exciting as I thought it would be from the title, but it looks GREAT! If my cabinets looked like that on the inside, I would copy you.

  13. You are so DARE!!!ing! I have glass-fronts on just one of my cabinets and I'm always afraid it looks like a trainwreck. And there you are with wild abandon! I guess that is a BIG advantage of being an organized, non-clutter type of person.

  17. I am new to your sight. I saw TheNester's tweet about 'Going Topless' so I had to come and check it out. :0)

I think it turned out really great. I'd love to see more pics of the project, including some of it finished from farther away. I must say though, I REALLY love your beautiful kitchen. All of the cabinets look great...top and bottom, including their doors. You really can't go wrong either way.

    Have a great evening!
