DIY For Cheapskates

I was at Target looking for a little decorated box to stick a present into...$6.99?? Are you kidding me? Not gonna do it {insert Dana Carvey's Bush impression voice here for those of you who don't do it automatically when hearing those words}

Here's the cheaters version.

A plain box from the closet (4 pack from the Dollar Store) Some printed scrapbook paper...is it right to refer to it as "scrapbook paper" if it never gets used for scrapbooking?.... and some of this. Yes, you can use a glue stick, but it wrinkles. And if there is one thing that drives me crazy, besides hardened jello splatters on my counter and clothes on the floor oops those are mine, it's wrinkly paper.

A little ribbon and a tag that puts to use stamps that I've had since 1998. I wish I was joking.

Total cost: zero dollars.

  3. Not that this isn't absolutely fantastical what you've done, but whatever happened to wrapping paper, or even a 99 cent gift bag? Oh, but then what would you have to blog about? And make everyone envious over? Okay, I understand ;) Carry on!

  11. Hi!
    Very cute idea... Love it. By the way...We saw "Sister C" at Leia's shower, and she had to share "a musical card". Of course the card didn't acutally PLAY. It was a poem and a check... but we were talking about "THE CARDS" that you and "Sister C" would share and thought perhpaps you might have temporarily put them in the back of your mind. Might be a cute idea to share with some of your "visitors" on the blog. Enjoy the cleaning.

    Love,

    Mom

  12. Wow! Did someone look in my closets,send you a list of random items, and ask you to "craft-ize" them? Great idea. My 15-year-old stamps thank you. Long time no see (or anything else), by the way ;) Love your blog...

  16. This is great. I reuse and reuse and reuse these boxes with fun ribbons, but I had never thought of going the paper route too. Wonderful! This will make our Christmas even more colorful :)
