6th File, 6th Photo

Just for you, Susie Q... Here it is. This would have been early 1990, which would have put me in eighth grade.

13 years old.

I remember this was taken after marching band practice as we waited for the bus.

Thoughts that come to mind while looking at this frozen moment in time:

1. I was going through my "blondes have more fun" phase that lasted about 3 years and then was resurrected in my mid 20's.

2. I loved my crimper, and how funky my crimped hair looked with a "scrunchy" headband that I'd made all by myself, thanks to my mom's endless supply of scrap fabric.

3. The school issued PE shorts were, in retrospect, way too short. No wonder the boys would always stare as the girl classes ran by (or perhaps is was the blossoming bosoms?). Couple that with an oversized sweater, and, let's face it, it seems downright indecent. And, being 13, I had no idea (or did I? Sus-pi-cious.)

4. From the pose alone, you can see that even growing up I was the shy, reserved and proper woman that I am today. Yep, that's fo sho.

  1. I've been in a funk today and this gave me a real proper laugh. I'm still chuckling.

  2. Your much hotter now. I don't think that I would have ever given you a second look back then. Thank goodness you gave me a chance. Who would have known how awesome you would turn out.
    I love you.
